One of the most popular and well-known media franchises in the world, Dragon Ball made its debut on December 3, 1984, in Weekly Shnen Jump (an unofficial Twitter news feed). The series and its equally well-known lead character, Goku, are recognizable to people who aren’t even interested in anime and manga.
Even now, with more than 35 years of content, Dragon Ball is still expanding and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. In this article, we’ll look back at some of Goku’s most memorable scenes throughout the series’ illustrious history.
10. The Universal Spirit Bomb
The often contentious Dragon Ball GT comes first on our list. The Universal Spirit Bomb is among the many unforgettable moments that GT left fans with, despite not being the most beloved aspect of the franchise.
In order to defeat Omega Shenron and put a halt to the final Shadow Dragon’s assault, Goku cries out across the cosmos and acquires this power after having exhausted all other alternatives.
9. Enhanced Ultra Instinct
Dragon Ball Super’s reception polarized the fandom once more, much like GT did. Some organizations praised the new series, with the Goku Black and Universe Survival arcs receiving positive reviews, while others decried it as a lame attempt at a money grab.
No matter how you feel about it, no one can deny the intensity of the Tournament of Power’s closing episodes, where Goku finally mastered the long-awaited Ultra Instinct. The tournament was won by Universe 7 when Goku, who was no longer constrained to a defensive approach, attacked Jiren with godlike accuracy.
8. The End for Kid Buu
Majin Buu was the subject of a protracted and exhausting conflict that spanned the entire universe and took on several shapes. On The Sacred World of the Kai, the last blow was finally delivered.
Goku was able to gather enough energy into a Spirit Bomb and utilize it to destroy the pink parasite with the aid of Vegeta and Mr. Satan.
Goku destroyed Buu while grinning and expressing his willingness to battle once more in the future (and sent him packing to Dragon Ball GT).
7. Battle on Namek
Our heroes were having a bad time in the battle on Namek. The Namekians were on the point of extinction, Frieza was prepared to use the Dragon Balls, and Gohan was battling Recoome of the Ginyu Force in a losing struggle.
When suddenly Goku appeared on Namek to save his companions, the young fighter, bloodied and defeated, appeared to be at his death. Goku’s presence soon puts a stop to the Ginyu Force and prepares the stage for an epic encounter with Frieza once he has recovered from his fight with Vegeta and has trained hard.
6. Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-Ken!
A competition was organized to determine who would win the Super Dragon Balls as part of a sibling quarrel between the Gods of Destruction from Universes 6 and 7.
Goku revealed his most recent form during this competition, which was the Kaio-ken, the ancestor of the Super Saiyan, and would be well-known to longtime Dragon Ball fans.
Super Saiyan Blue Kaio-concluding Ken’s scene in its pilot episode was both an exciting sight and a welcome throwback for more seasoned viewers. This sequence was an enormous demonstration of what Dragon Ball does best, accompanied by the series’ theme tune.
5. Goku’s Last Instant Transmission
In Dragon Ball, dying has always been viewed as a joke. Given the volume of battle in the series, it is conceivable to bring back a person who has passed away due to an unnatural reason thanks to the existence of the titular Dragon Balls.
Shenron, the dragon of Earth, is unable to grant the same wish twice, because Goku has already been brought back to life. This meant that our hero’s death was considered to be his final one and was truly intended to be.
Goku made the ultimate sacrifice for his son and the planet when he removed the self-destructing Cell from the planet, preventing everyone from dying. P
rior to the Majin Buu saga, this was supposed to be the last part of Dragon Ball Z, with Goku handing the baton to Gohan. Although that was obviously not the case, this still stands as one of the best and most memorable moments.
4. King Piccolo is defeated by Goku
Prior to the heyday of Z, Goku was battling the Demon King Piccolo and his evil offspring. Although less well-known than his Dragon Ball Z adventures, these travels brought Goku and many of his future comrades together and helped pave the way for the Super Saiyan period.
Goku launched himself at Piccolo with a one-handed Kamehameha, using the Penetrate! strike to defeat his foe and put an end to the Demon King’s rule. As was already noted, this particular fandom event isn’t the most well-known, but for those who witnessed it, it will always rank among the most treasured.
3. Super Saiyan 3
The most epic and drawn-out transformation scene in anime history is Goku becoming Super Saiyan 3, which tops all prior transformations.
Despite the numerous memes that this outrageously long scene has given rise to, even years later, this dynamic scene has endured in the hearts of fans for years, and the brief reappearance of the form in Dragon Ball Super was well-received by viewers.
2. Kamehameha vs. Galick Gun in Goku vs. Vegeta
This enduring classic is a constant topic of discussion whenever beam difficulties in anime are brought up. With this titanic struggle, the conflict between Goku and Vegeta came to a head as Goku utilized all of his remaining strength to stop the Saiyan prince from annihilating the Earth.
Everything is there, from the powerful lights to the surroundings being utterly destroyed by the fight. Goku successfully repelled his foe with one more push. This scene might go down as the most recognizable in all of Dragon Ball, barring perhaps the scene after this one.
1. Goku becomes a Super Saiyan
The culmination of a protracted process. Due to the thrashing he received at the hands of Goku, Frieza, who just evaded death, made a comeback to kill Krillin and Piccolo.
Something within of Goku broke in that one final instant. In a golden burst of light and wrath, the legendary Super Saiyan was born as rage rose to the surface.
The most iconic scene in Dragon Ball is without a doubt this one. The moment that will stay with all Dragon Ball fans throughout the lengthy history of the series is the beginning of the most recognizable transformation in anime.
